APATHY vs EMPATHY
"Nothing Changes Until Something Moves…"
This is true of relationships, families and communities.
Their quality and strength are dependent upon the virtues
and capacities of their individual members. To effect positive change and create movement requires that we are first moved within to act. What moves us and causes us to act is not what we observe with our eyes but what we see with our hearts.
The apathetic person merely observes life with their eyes. Being spiritually blind they look but do not see, and are content to stand along the sidelines remaining indifferent and unmoved inside. Feeling less of a connection and responsibility to something beyond themselves, they miss out on lasting love and contribute little to the welfare of others or to the betterment of society. However, those enlightened with spiritual sight enjoy a deeper connection in their personal relationships and to humanity. They are
more fully alive within and are inspired to act out of love, conscience, empathy, or honor.
If we desire true and enduring love, and wish to strengthen our families,
communities and nation, let us begin by not being content to simply observe
with our eyes. Rather, let us act upon what we see when we view others with
our hearts and let us be a light to all by encouraging spiritual sight.
Perhaps, most importantly, to ensure the enlightenment and success of future
generations, let us not neglect to teach our children to see others with their
hearts. -WAL
